Life can only be understood backwards,
but it must be lived forwards.
-Soren Kierkegaard
Hi, I'm Sarah.
I created The Hope Cabin as an inclusive space for Counselling, Mentoring and Creativity.
My professional journey began in nursing, where I spent over 10 years supporting people primarily in palliative care. During that time, I developed a deep appreciation for the importance of connection, compassion and being truly present with another person.
Over time, psychotherapy was the natural step for me. It offered a way of working that aligned closely with how I want to support people. From this I created a space for exploration, understanding, growth and hope.
With a passion for supporting people of all ages, I started my journey in mentoring children and counselling training alongside each other. I have always been fascinated by how our sense of self develops and evolves throughout life.
In children, this may be growing confidence, curiosity, and self-expression. In adults, it may be found reconnecting with parts of themselves that may have been overlooked or forgotten along the way.
Alongside my professional qualifications and experience, I bring my own lived experiences of life's twists and turns, challenges and growth.
Whilst every person's story is unique, I believe these experiences help me connect to people in a genuine, compassionate way.
The name reflects what I aim to offer:
A welcoming, inclusive space where people can feel safe to be themselves. Like a cabin, it is space to pause, reflect, and simply be.
Hope is at the heart of the work I do. Not as an empty gesture, but as a practical, living force that can quietly fuel our next step forward.
There is an old story that tells of many troubles being released into the world, yet hope remained. I often think of this when life feels overwhelming. Hope does not remove our difficulties, but it can sit alongside them, helping us find meaning, strength, and the courage to keep going.
My approach is rooted in kindness, authenticity, and respect. Whether through counselling or mentoring, I strive to build meaningful therapeutic relationships where people feel heard, valued and accepted as they are.
I have personal and professional experience of neurodivergence, trauma, LGBTQIA+, chronic illness, and inner child work. This shapes my understanding of how important it is to feel safe, understood and not rushed into expectations that may not be the right fit for someone.
In kindness,
Sarah

At Your Pace
Groundwork
In therapy, often people hope to provide a safe space to clients, but this can sometimes feel assumed. Feeling safe can take time, and there is no expectation to trust immediately.
Fully accredited, insured and committed to professional ethical standards. This provides an accountable foundation for our work together.
